Accessing CRS Details

Coordinate reference systems (CRSs) are distinguished by several parameters, including (among others) their units and the location of their standards. This tutorial covers finding the specific details of a CRS.

the Coordinate System Details

Coordinate reference system details are built into the process of picking a new CRS for a map view. You can quickly access those details by navigating to the map’s properties. 

First, access the CRS properties of the map by right-clicking on the map’s name in the Contents panel and navigating through Properties > Coordinate Systems.

Next, browse or search for a specific CRS. In the example image below, we have located the listing of the NAD83 State Plane New York - Long Island (in US feet) coordinate system.

Lastly, right-click on the CRS’s name within the list and choose Details (shown on the left in the images below.) This will summon the Coordinate System Details dialogue box, which lists the parameters of the chosen CRS (shown on the right, below).
