In ArcGIS Pro, the Geoprocessing History logs the geoprocessing tools run previously within each project. This includes detailed information about each process, the specific inputs used in each tool execution, as well as the results from each operation.

the Geoprocessing History Pane

You can access the History Pane by clicking the Analysis tab in the main ribbon and clicking the History icon.

The path to opening Geoprocessing history is Analysis > History.

The icons next to each ran tool also indicates if the tool ran successfully (green checks), with warnings (yellow warning), or failed to run (red error).

The History pane displays the tools that have been previously run since starting the project (assuming the history has not been deleted). The icons next to each processed tool also indicates if the tool was executed successfully, with warnings, or failed to run.

Note that the History pane includes a separate tab for certain, but not all, Raster Functions. (Notice that many of the tools included under the Geoprocessing list in the example screenshot include raster geoprocessing.)

Processing History and Results

Hovering over each process, you can quickly access a preview of the information associated with each instance of a tool. The first tab in the preview details the input parameters. The second tab includes the environments settings specified for running the operation.

You can see the inputs and output information of each previous process.

Click the “pop-out” icon at the top of the results preview to access these results in a standalone window.

Accessing Processing Results

The third tab in the operation’s history (called Messages) includes any error messages or warnings, as well as output results.

The example screenshot (at right) includes the summary of an Average Nearest Neighbor test, which only outputs these values here and in a report saved as an html file in the location noted in the Messages.

Re-running an Operation from the History

Double-clicking a process’s name from the History list will open the tool’s dialogue box with the parameters and options originally used. From there, you can re-run the tool with these parameters or change options before re-running it.

⚠️ Be careful: Some tools will overwrite output files. To be safe, be sure to change the output file location or name.

More: Filter and Sort the Processes list

You can also filter the executed processes, rearrange the order of appearance of the list, or search for a specific geoprocessing tool.

You can filter your geoprocessing history.

You can re-sort your geoprocessing history.
