May 2026 Updates

31 May 2026

The 2025-26 academic year has been a big one at Mapping 101! As we wrap up the spring, we have added a few more tutorials to support creating GIS data while planning for the summer. Thanks again to Sally Kaye and Daniel Wexler for their contributions to our growing resources this semester.

happy GIS-ing,
Leah

Updates from the Month

A few more skills tutorials to round out our collection of resources for “Creating Data” with GIS software. This month, we have added…

  • Converting Rasters to Polygon Features in QGIS

  • Creating Attributes for Digitized Features in QGIS and in ArcGIS Pro

  • Digitizing Lines in ArcGIS Pro

As usual, we have continued to make smaller, incremental updates to our existing tutorials as well.

Coming Up

We have a more tutorials for QGIS on deck for the coming months as we continue to move toward parity between ArcGIS and QGIS software skills. This summer will also include updates to some of our older (mostly ArcGIS Pro) tutorials and new Concepts and Methods posts.

As always, if you find these resources helpful, please consider donating to support Mapping 101.
